As many may well know, the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas have outwardly spoken that God hates all homosexuality, Americans, Sweeds, Germans, Australians, and pretty much everyone who isn't them. Their leader, as those who are aware of them know, is Pastor Fred Phelps. A horrible, evil man who uses Bible scripture to denounce homosexuality, and damn all those who are "fags" and "fag enablers". Oh, and a member of the American Army. Which is everyone, except them. And the Klan. And Skinheads. You know, all those great people. Well, I am pleased to announce that I wrote a message to Fred Phelps. Here it is, for all who care to read;

Hello, Pastor Phelps.

 

I must say I'm proud to be able to have an open channel to converse with you. I've watched you and your ilk on youtube and on television for quite some time now. I dare say that you have influenced me in a way that I never thought was possible. Your causes, or rather the zeal with with you pursue your causes, have inspired me to take up my own causes and follow what I consider to be God's work.

 

Unfortunately, I do have a few concerns. I plead with you to answer them for me. A few questions of religion that I would like for you to clarify for me? Your opinion, sir? What is your response when I mention the words "Council of Nicea"? A religiously documented event, mentioned by religious scholars in lectures, books and documents all over the world. To summarize, the Council of Nicea was a meeting to, in essence, determine Biblical Canon. Now, if the entire Bible is canonical and true, as you have stated that it is by making your corner stone for your entire God Hates Fags, God Hates America, and God essentially hates everyone but us thing, why must there be a meeting to determine the parts of the Bible which are canon? And one more question, why was this council held by Romans, who were at the time Sun Worshippers, and why was it overseen by Emperor Constantine, a pagan until his deathbed where he was forcibly baptised into Christianity by his mother? And what of all of the other Gospels that were written, which are not considered religious canon, which were omitted simply because they painted a different picture of Jesus than those of the Evangelists? All whom Jesus picked were considered Holy, and all of them, save for Judas Iscariot, who killed himself after serving his purpose and betraying Jesus Christ (which was prophesised in the Old Testament to happen, when the revelation of the Messiah was introduced in the first place) went out and preached the Good Word which forged our religion today? Were they just pagans for the time it took them to write those books, and did they all reform after they wrote the blasphemous texts and went out to praise the Lord? Why were they exempt? Were they heretics? They were present at the Transfiguration, I’m sure. They all believed Jesus to be one touched by God, that was for sure. However, I must say, in these texts, which I have read, they paint a very human side to Jesus. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ showed doubt. Doubt. A human emotion. Why would a God show doubt in a mission he was handed by his Father? And if the Holy Trinity is true, and Jesus truly is God, why would he not consider it HIS mission, instead of his Father’s? It’s all very troubling, because if the Bible needed to be edited, I must question the methods behind editing it, as well as the editors. If the Bible is inspired by God, all things written for it come from God. Therefore, why edit it? Please, help me understand this Pastor Phelps, because with this concept comes a very troubling idea.

 

If the Bible needed to be edited, because canon needed to be decided, then the words of God were determined by mortal man. And if this is true, then how can the Bible be trusted? The cornerstone of the belief in the Bible is that it is inspired by God and is His word. And if this is true, then how can God speak through the Bible? It irks me, so. And if this is true, then...your entire God Hates Fags ideal is rendered null and void because now the entire Bible has to be called into question. I mean, are only the parts of the Bible that pertain to your own ideals to be trusted? Are you the Way, sir? Are you the Savior? Please, tell me now, that I might have record of your Blasphemy.

 

The charade is finished, sir. Your lies can no longer hold water. The world sees you as evil, and now I see you as a Bible thumping fool. I challenge you, sir. I call your authority into question. Any non response to this message I will consider to be an act of cowardice, and if you do not respond, I will post this not only on your facebook board, but everywhere else to which this matter pertains. I am throwing down the gauntlet, and now, if you are a gentleman and a man of God, I dare you to defend your faith to me. The following Bible verses, I now call your attention to;

 

1Jo 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1Jo 4:8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love

God. Is. Love. You state that God HATES. And yet, by the admission of one of the texts considered by the Christian Bible, God is Love personified. It also states that those who do not love is born not of God, but of something else. And we all know what that is, don’t we Pastor Phelps?

 

Let us say, for a moment, that all the words in the Bible are canon at this point. The final editor, the Emperor Constantine, worshipped a false idol. The sun. First commandment, broken. Nice person to determine the word of Our Lord. And Biblical Canon editing didn’t stop at Jesus. Old Testament and New were edited for Christianity. And here is where your lies are pulled. Not only are they pulled from the Book more commonly known as the Torah, the Jewish Bible, a religion that DOES NOT accept the divinity of Christ. Jesus makes NO MENTION of homosexuality! None! Christians believe in the word of our Saviour Jesus Christ. But those who wrote the books to come, those who followed him, once more were men. And we edited their speech anyway. Hell, we edited JESUS. There are things he did and said which were omitted. Did you know he pushed a child out a window only to revive him later once he saw people grew angry enough? Kid was a fag, right? Give me a break, there’s no mention of it.

 

We are working with a director’s cut, and so we must question all that follows. Your quotes and verses mean very little when faced with these cold hard facts. You are a pastor. One must be educated to become one. You are a lawyer, one of the most high standing and respected professions in the world. And yet you spend your time and influence preaching hate and insanity, to your...how many? Seventy followers? You know, Christianity defines a cult as a religious movement of less than a hundred members. You’re a cult.

 

I am ashamed to state that you are in the profession that I aspire to be in. One day, I seek to do good things by becoming a lawyer, like God wishes me to do. Your words do nothing but appeal to those who are afraid of change and are probably afraid of their own sexuality, and more than likely have commitment issues. It is my dream one day that you might tell me that I am going to Hell, for if Hell, being the absence of God, means that I am in the absence of YOUR God, then I am glad to be rid of him. But he is NOT your God, and I shall not be going to Hell. I am a mere University student, but I propose a test. I want you to include in one of your sermons, or in a youtube video, my message here. I want them to hear my words, and I want to hear them cry blasphemy. I want so much to be recognized by your faith as one who loathes you to the core and one who spits in your face. And one final request;

 

Picket my funeral.

 

Come to Toronto Canada, and Picket my funeral. Whoever is your successor, tell him to picket my funeral. For I have chosen to defy you, priest, and I now see why God has placed me on this Earth. He has sent me here to destroy you, sir, and I defy you to take up my challenge, for I call into question your authority as a holyman. Respond, or be exposed as a fraud. I await your reply."

And there you have it, true believers. That's my take on them. I'll give you a day by day update on whether or not he has responded, and if he does not, let it be known that he refuses my challenge, and therefore, refuses to prove himself to you, to me and to everyone. If true confidence is present, tn disuting my meager claims should be easy. But they're not meager, and he's a coward. His lack of response, I assure you, will prove that.
